Established in 1956, the The Thornbury Vintage Tractor and Implement Club's impressive museum can be found in the heart of Thornbury, a tiny rural town just off the main Invercargill-Riverton Highway.

Our club is the oldest vintage tractor club in New Zealand.

It was formed following the recovery and subsequent restoration of a 1914 Avery tractor, which is proudly displayed in our museum and is the flagship of the club.

Various other items, such as old tractors, machinery, and family mementos, have been donated to us over the years.

The expanding collection resulted in seven museum buildings being erected between the early 60 to present day.

Displays have been developed that tell “Southland’s farming story”, so there’s something here for everyone.

The museum is open every Sunday from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and on public holidays.

After-hours visits can be arranged by phoning 0210385196.

Club members are all to happy to show you around.
