Maureen is heartbroken to announce the death of her beloved husband, Doug (80), at Dunstan Hospital, Clyde, on Friday, 14 March.

Doug was so loved and cherished by his family: his son David (deceased) and Claire Stanaway (Sydney); daughter Donna, and Steve Elkington (Nelson): and youngest daughter Sharyn, and Lee Woodhouse (Oamaru); as well as his adored grandchildren, Sarah and Lauren Stanaway, Oliver and James Elkington, and Jordan, Matthew, Michael, and Daniel Woodhouse.

Doug was widely known for his strong work ethic and exceptional DIY skills. He served as the manager of Great Southern in Oamaru for 35 years.

A true community-minded individual,

Doug made significant contributions to the Oamaru and Alexandra Catholic Churches and the Oamaru Heritage area.

His passions included music, tramping, camping, old-time sequence dancing, and cruising out for a coffee in his cherished MGC.

A Requiem Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church, Killarney Street, Alexandra, on Friday, 21 March, starting at 1:30 pm, followed by interment at the Alexandra Cemetery.

Refreshments will be served at the Alexandra District Club, 35 Centennial Avenue.
