Explore the extensive rural collections and discover Southland's Farming History.

Spans several buildings, the Southland’s Rural Heritage Centre houses local and regional farming collections and displays for visitors to explore - including steam, Willet implements, classic tractors, crawlers, and business and household memorabilia from Thornbury's heyday as a railway hub.

Each building is named to honour a significant club member.

Be sure to say 'gidday' to our club members 'hard at play' in the workshop.

And enjoy the noise, fun and action when they fire up the working displays and machinery - bringing history alive!

The Southland Rural Heritage Centre is located in the township of Thornbury, only five minutes drive from Riverton, just off the Southern Scenic Route, or a leisurely 30 minute drive from Invercargill.

The Centre is open on Sundays from 1:30pm - 4:30pm, or by appointment.

General entry $10 per person. School and group concessions apply - inquiries welcome.
