Roger has assumed the role of chief judge for our Invitational Highland Heavyweight Championship.

He’s competed in Highland Games in his home country of America most of his adult life and is a former A-class Champion Highland Heavyweight in the USA.

He has also won or placed in several powerlifting and Olympic lifting competitions, and trained for a time at the Olympic Training Centre in Colorado Springs, Colorado USA.

Severe should injuries means he’s no longer able to compete, but he still keeps up his weightlifting and takes great pleasure now in officiating at highland games events.

If you’re wondering about the name, it’s real.

Roger is a Native American – Chiricahua Apache – and was given his name by tribal elders.

“Crazy” doesn’t translate directly but the closest definition is reckless or acting without thought.

The “wolf” part recognises that he likes to be on the perimeter, observing everything, being a guardian-type lookout – perfect attributes for a Highland Heavyweight Judge we’d say!
