Died: 4th December 2025

Michael departed on his terms on 4 December 2025, before he had to see another hospital bed the next day.

He leaves behind his family and friends, bewildered and a little shocked, by his sneaking out so quickly.

Husband to Gaynor.

Dad to Jason, Leah, Mee Moi, Mei Fong, and Ming Ming.

Grandad to Gerard, Sam, Tom, and Maxine.

Great-Grandad to Teequan, Jordan, Eira-Lae, Te Ao Kohu, and Ella.

Brother to Chris with family Jane, Sacha and Simon.

Cousin to Julie, John and Leo.

Michael was a master of words as an advertising copywriter, loved music and wrote songs as well as jingles.

He did not like tardiness as ads were measured in seconds.

He was quiet, funny with sarcasm and dry wit added in different parts with traditional values based on a strong Catholic faith and a lover of hot spicy food until he hiccupped.

His family and a few close friends were the main people he felt comfortable with.

A private cremation was held with family members and a memorial will be held at a later date in Auckland.

Dad helped me, or M2 as he liked to call me, with polio exercises. Coincidentally the Easter Bunny had the same handwriting as Dad. (Mee Moi)
