Drummond Golf Club

Drummond Golf Club

The Drummond Golf Club has an attractive flat 9 hole course which many would say is the easiest course in Southland to play on.

Located in the middle of the Southland plain, it enjoys the benefits of being only 40km inland from Invercargill but avoiding the coastal weather.

The 9 hole course has alternative Ladies and Mens tees for each hole giving a second nine a different perspective for anyone wanting to play 18 holes.

The golf course supports a sizeable wooded pond area, which is surrounded on all sides by fairways.

It's in these trees and along the fairway trees, that many native birds can be heard, which in due course will soon become a wild bird sanctuary.

If you’re passionate about golf in the quiet and serenity of country life, then this is the course for you, either as a full member, a country member or just wanting that causal round of golf.

For non-members the green fees for 18 holes is $10.

Drummond Club Members welcome visitors on club days

  • Tuesday (set aside as ladies, tee off at 10.30am
  • Wednesday twilight golf during daylight saving. Start time is rolling:- anywhere between 4.45pm to 6pm. Just turn up and join in, as anyone is welcome, both men & women.

Course Location

This attractive golf course is located in the middle of the Southland plain at Boundary Road, Drummond, 20 km from Winton and 40 km from Invercargill.

Club Establishment

It was the year of 1951 that Drummond locals called a meeting to initiate their idea of a golf course being established in their local district.

With the support of the local Domain Board, who owns the bare land, these locals set about surrounding the area on three sides by planting trees, also in rows outlining fairways, and then eventually purchasing a removable building as a practical solution for a club house.

Today, this asset continues to contribute as an active sports and social venue for the local community of Drummond, with many of its current members travelling as far away as from Invercargill and Winton to play golf at this friendly club.
