William died peacefully after a courageous and lengthy journey with cancer in the care of Hospice Southland, surrounded by those who loved him.
William was fiercely independent and determined, a man with real grit.

Esteemed and valued family member of Davina & Michael Blakie, Deborah & Steve* Blomfield, Bronwyn Hansen, Angela Hansen & Barrie Hosgood, & Matthew Hansen.
A special person who was dependable and supportive, who will be deeply missed.
Always remembered by Beth, Jeremy and Rowan - for his unwavering kindness, support and guidance.
As per Williams wishes a private cremation has been held, details of a memorial service to be advised.

Beloved brother of Duncan and Annis, Fred, Adele, Des Frisby, David and Ngaire, Beverley and Dennis Waters (Picton).
Dearly loved father of Phillip and Julie Boniface, cherished grandfather of Matthew and Tess Black, Sophie and Emily Black.
Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Williams life will be held at a later date to be announced.
