You're warmly invited to the Otago Southland FMG Young Farmer of the Year Regional Final - where the region’s top talent will go head-to-head for a place in the iconic Season 57 Grand Final, set to take place in Invercargill in July 2025.

As the last of seven Regional Finals running across Aotearoa from February to April, the Otago Southland Regional Final sets the stage for an unforgettable competition. The region’s top eight Young Farmers will face off for their chance at a place in the Grand Final and a share of over $90,000 in prizes.

Now in its 57th year, this iconic competition continues to spotlight the exceptional skills and innovation within New Zealand’s food and fibre sector.

What to Expect:

This year’s contest promises plenty of excitement for spectators, with highlights including fast-paced, head-to-head challenges as finalists race to complete tasks in just 30 minutes. The competition will culminate in the renowned FMG Young Farmer of the Year buzzer quiz at the Saturday evening awards dinner.

Adding to the energy are future farming stars competing in AgriKidsNZ and FMG Junior Young Farmer of the Year contests, with finalists in all age categories advancing to the Grand Final in July 2025.

When: Saturday, 5 April 2025, 9:00 AM: Practical Day kicks off until around 2pm. Evening: Buzzer quiz and winner announcement at the Winton Memorial Hall. Let us know if you’d like a ticket to attend this event.
