Hīmene (hymns)
Waiata-ā-ringa (action songs)
Karakia (prayer)
Mōteatea (traditional chant)
Haka pōwhiri (welcome haka)
Along the way, you’ll also hear stories about pūrākau (myths), hītori (history), and whakapapa (genealogy) to enrich your learning experience.
This is the fifth wānanga in a series held in Fiordland over two years, made possible by the support of the Community Organisation Grants Scheme (COGS).
Your tutors: Te Ukaipo Rangihau and Te-Hukatai Tonihi
Te Ukaipo is a Kaiawhina for Te Reo Māori Level 1-2 at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa ki Murihiku. Raised on the marae by his hapū, his first language is Te Reo Māori, and he grew up surrounded by experts in Māori arts, from music to weaponry. Passionate about Māori culture, Te Ukaipo loves sharing his knowledge while creating an enjoyable atmosphere.
Te-Hukatai is a Kura Kaupapa Māori Aho Matua teacher at Te Wharekura o Arowhenua. With a deep love for Te Ao Māori, she aspires to raise her children in a fully immersive Te Reo Māori environment and is dedicated to sharing her passion for the culture with others.
