Music from the 18th-century French court for viols and harpsichord.
If you have ever wondered what the French King listened to, before turning in for the night, or what French music of 1700 was like, or what a viol (or viola da gamba) is, then come and hear the concert at St. Mary's Basilica, Invercargill, on Saturday 4th October at 7.30pm.
You will be delighted with the rare and sumptuous music, and the gorgeous instruments, presented in this concert.
Polly Sussex from Auckland, is one of a handful of string players in this country who can play the bass and treble violas da gamba.
David Burchell, known to many as Dunedin’s City Organist, will accompany her, and will play solos too, on his beautiful harpsichord, which has a special Kiwi touch in the painting under the lid.
Come and see for yourselves. It will be an evening to remember!
